Our Story

Penwortham Cricket Club has proudly played at its home ground, Middleforth Green, since 1892. Today we are home to 7 senior men's teams, 6 junior teams and a women's team playing across 3 formats. We deliver engaging, inclusive sessions for 4-8 year olds through ECB accredited programmes, providing a pathway into sport for hundreds of local children.

As a true community club, we've always stepped up when needed most. During the Covid-19 pandemic, our clubhouse was transformed into a vaccination centre, helping the NHS to administer over 24,000 vaccinations to residents across South Ribble. It was a proud moment that showcased our deep rooted commitment to public service.

However, our facilities are now in urgent need of redevelopment to ensure we can continue and expand the role we play in the community.

We are seeking funds to complete Phase 1 of our vision, which will see the construction of a new Net Zero Community Building. This state of the art, energy efficient facility has been designed to meet the highest environmental standards, incorporating features such as solar panels and sustainable building materials. These elements will drastically reduce the club's carbon footprint and ongoing utility costs, allowing us to operate in a way that is both environmentally and financially sustainable.

The space will serve as a modern, multi purpose venue for community use, events and private hire, providing a year round income stream that reduces our dependence on one off fundraisers, to ensure the club survives. Ultimately, this project will future proof the club, supporting our goal of becoming a leading example of how grassroots sports clubs can contribute to a greener, more resilient future.

This is a critical time in our club's journey and we are reaching out to potential sponsors, partners and grant awarding bodies, to help us bring the vision to life. Your support would make a tangible, lasting difference, not just for the future of Penwortham Cricket Club, but for the broader community that benefits from everything we do.

We hope you will join us in building a better future for Penwortham Cricket Club and our community.

Will Adams

Mayor of Penwortham

Penwortham Cricket Club has been a permanent presence in our community since 1880. The club has been community focussed since it was formed and this new development will only help facilitate that focus even more. Furthermore, that community focus was demonstrated when they opened their doors as a vaccine centre, to support the vaccine roll out during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Horizons

Beyond my own experience, it is clear that Penwortham Cricket Club provides a valuable resource for the wider community. Their facilities are used by a diverse range of local residents, teams and organisations and the club actively fosters inclusion, wellbeing and community engagement. Investment in the planned upgrades would ensure that this welcoming and versatile space can continue to meet the growing needs of the community and offer even greater opportunities for participation and development.

The new building will offer high quality, accessible space that can be used not only for cricket related activities but also by local groups, schools, volunteers and partner organisations. Its design will ensure long term sustainability, lower environmental impact and improve provision for both current and future generations. The Lancashire Cricket Foundation fully supports this development and recognises the positive impact it will have across the region.
